The ship’s record
USS Haunted Hornet: The Devil’s Sea isn’t taking place in a warehouse, a soundstage, or a temporary tent. You’re stepping aboard the USS Hornet, a World War II aircraft carrier that has spent decades becoming one of the Bay Area’s most talked-about paranormal locations.
Long before The Devil’s Sea arrived, visitors, volunteers, museum staff, and paranormal investigators reported unexplained footsteps, voices, shadowy figures, sudden cold spots, moving objects, and apparitions throughout the ship.
The USS Hornet Museum itself runs after-hours paranormal tours, overnight investigations, and History Mystery programs exploring the areas aboard that have become known for reported paranormal activity.
And this Halloween, you’re coming aboard after dark. You’ll descend into a steel labyrinth aboard a ship that served through World War II, the Cold War, and Vietnam before recovering the Apollo 11 and Apollo 12 astronauts from the Pacific.
Some of these passageways are more than eighty years old. Some have stories. And once the lights go down, you may have a hard time deciding which scares are part of the show.

SICK BAY
Visitors and paranormal investigators have reported strange sensations, unexplained equipment activity, voices, and the feeling of being touched in and around Sick Bay and the ship's former medical spaces.
COMMS
RADIO CENTRAL
Paranormal tours have reported unusual flashlight activity, temperature changes, unexplained sounds, and other strange experiences inside Radio Central.
CONFINEMENT
THE BRIG
The ship's former confinement area is another location associated with paranormal reports, and is included among the areas explored during the Hornet's paranormal programs.
LOWER DECKS
DEEP INSIDE THE SHIP
Across the Hornet, reports over the years have included footsteps when no one is nearby, shadow figures, unexplained voices, apparitions resembling sailors, objects moving, and the feeling that someone else is standing close by.
